Hi everyone,
My name is Barbara Knab. This is very new to me so I will do my best. I am not a gamer although I did teach computer programming and had my students create games in order to learn how to code. I am returning to the classroom in September and will be teaching eighth grade math support so I have been researching gamifying my classroom.

What level of Education are you thinking of using GBL for?
Eighth grade math support

What types of games are you thinking about using?
I was thinking about using quests

How much experience do you have in gaming?
none

What are your expectations of GBL's affect on your students / clients?
Kids love games so I am trying to enter their world in order to motivate them to enjoy learning

Are you looking for collaborators?
Absolutely!

It seems that the gamification method (questing) you have in mind for your class is a perfect fit with the resources available on this very site! Welcome, Brooklyn.

Hello brooklyn,

Great to have a math teacher here. I love the idea of math quests!

Therese and I were just discussing designing math games last week. I want to someday make a "History of Zero" or "History of Math" sim/game or even ARG (Alternate Reality Game). Therese teaches humanities but she's totally a renaissance woman. So much so, that last week during our in-house conference, she was on a team that created and won our Game Camp competition.

The educational objective for their team was "learning functions"

and the quick blurb on it.
