My gaming is pretty well all console and phone based - I try to keep games off the PC so that I can get work done without getting distracted. So this eliminates WoW (though I've never been that excited about fantasy themes anyway).

I am pretty partial to an open world game on the consoles - with a particular leaning to Rockstar. Red Dead Redemption, GTA etc, LA Noire, Mass Effect 1-3, Just Cause 2, Deus Ex:HR (currently),Driver:SF, Psychonauts, Dead Island, Dead Rising, Assassin's Creed and that ilk. Mainly I'm happy enough with single player but will occasionally play online - I don't generally fare that well but find the behavior of other players fascinating, particularly when they move beyond the "rules" of the game.

On the phone, Jetpack Joyride has been mindcandy staple of late, with dips into Plague Inc (contagion simulator) and the usual Angry Birds/Tiny Wings type suspects.

I am in the same boat. The only PC game that I was considering getting was Halo 2 (and that's only so I can play through the story and collect achievements (I have achievements in all other Halo games). Achievements in Halo 2 would be a demonstrable token that I completed the game.

It's funny how ridiculous achievements and gamer points can become with games - the amount of time that I've spent on fetch quests or hunting down the last pigeon in GTA is ridiculous really

For me it's about dps - "damage per second" and all the time spent trying to increase the amount with infinitesimal results.
