Story-Based eLearning: Antidote to Boring Programs

Speaker: Ray Jimenez, Ph.D., Chief Learning Architect of Vignettes for Training, Inc.

Date: Wednesday, August 1, 2012 Rescheduled from July 31

Time: 10:00AM Pacific / 1:00PM Eastern (60 Minute Session)

Session Description:
“Our lives are made up of stories” – according to Mark Zuckerburg (Facebook CEO), “that is why we provide “TIMELINE” in Facebook because we help you tell your life-stories.

From Confucius to Zuckerburg, people learn from each other by sharing experiences and stories. Nowadays, this fact becomes increasingly significant with the advent and continuous development of mobile learning, on-the-job learning support and communities of learners.

The challenge has been how to design learning points that are story-driven to help learners learn instantly. How do we use the power of story dynamics, both telling and listening, as antidotes to boring elearning programs?

Topics to cover:

• Gain insights from scientific research that prove how stories boost learning, retention and application
• Understand the dynamic structure of stories
• Design eLearning by superimposing story structures and classical rich content elearning
• Revitalizing learning objectives, lessons, exercises and test questions with stories
• Finding sources in the workplace for stories, anecdotes, meme, metaphors, etc.
• Learn the step-by-step approach of converting a small lesson into story-based eLearning
• Preview demos and examples
• To be received in advance:PRE-WEBINAR STUDY KIT, white papers, demos and examples
