SnapshotOur Halloween Costumes on SecondLife

These were created by a SecondLife resident, and are sold at her store Curio Obscura within SecondLife.

Why isn't my photo appearing in the post? It's a jpg file from Flickr. If I use the picture icon to put in the url, then I can see the Image tag when I edit the post, but the photo doesn't appear. I tried using the html code, but that doesn't show either. Finally gave up and just pasted the url into the text. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Rivenhomewood,

Here's what you do:
Go to your page with the image on Flickr.
Click on Share at the top of the image.
Click on Grab the HTML/BBCode.
Select the BBCode radio button at the bottom of the little popup window. (Important!)
Copy all of the code you see there directly into the post window in Shivtr.

I did this just below and it seems to post fine there.

I hope this works for you!

P.S. And WOW what awesome costumes! I didn't realize they were Second Life at first! Very neat work!

Here's my little contribution to this. I wanted to take a screenshot of the moon (it turns into a pumpkin for Halloween) but it was daytime in the game. Perhaps later!

EDIT: Here's the moon!

Here's something really cool and timely -- sponsored by the History Channel -- solving a haunted house mystery virtually. I am going to do this with my reading students tomorrow because in order to succeed, one must read and follow all directions well!

In addition, I will be celebrating Dia de los Muertos with five of my classes over the next three days, starting 10/31. The news says that the Smithsonian itself is closed back east because of Hurricane Sandy, but we can all enjoy the virtual offerings of the Smithsonian Latino Virtual Museum in Second Life, curated by Melissa Carrillo and the gang...BTW GREAT HALLOWEEN COSTUMES! All my avatar has is a dragon -- I guess I wouldn't scare students if I wore that! After all, it is Halloween as well as Dia!

This game is really fun, and you are correct about reading the instructions! I need to move on to other things tonight, but I will be back.

Did you ever get a chance to check out FRCC's Day of the Dead area in Second Life, I expect everything has been stored by now, it was a couple of years ago, and for the Chicano/a Studies class.

Well, the most I did for Halloween, in a game, was to make a welcoming entry way in my arctic world. I can assure you that finding pumpkins in the Arctic is not an easy task, so again, welcome to all of you and we hope you enjoy the mooc! And yes they are cube pumpkins, after all it is Minecraft!
