I forgot to mention the Zombies, Run! app. It has changed my life. It's a game that you play while you're actually workout (I started walking it and I'm slowly adding running)! This is the power of gaming, I've lost 20lbs and going strong.

I haven't used it, but it has been mentioned before in previous MOOCs? Would you call it only an app or could it also be considered augmented reality?

It fits the definition of an app, but you could almost call it alternate reality. I really enjoy it too. I'm not a runner at all, but I find it works for walking fast too! I listen to it while I walk my dog and it definitely gets me moving faster.

I agree @MissRithenay, it's an app that can easily be an augmented reality. I totally get into the post apocalyptic, zombie infested world, even on the treadmill! It's the only way I've even come close to running.

My dog has 3 legs and is nervous about people so I like to pretend she's my warning dog who got her leg chewed off by a zombie. The n when she tries to pull me away from strangers I can pretend its bc they're monsters instead of bc my dog is a raging coward.

Hmmm, may have to look into that, sounds like fun, probably more fun than walking to bagpipe music, which is what I do. Interesting that this is a game that actually takes you out into the real world. I think geocaching does that too.

I also use the Zombies, Run! App on my iPhone.

It works best when you use a Sport Armband for the iPhone. I have that for my iPhone 4 so the link goes to something that supports iPhone 4 and 4s.

Best combo for me is the Nike+, Zombies, and http://www.willTrainForChocolate.com although I am looking into using RunKeeper if I can find more people to use it with me. Anyone? :)

I finally got an armband for the iPhone 5, and it fits even with its cover!

I use Zombies, Run with my UP band, which is great because the UP tracks my steps and my calorie intake. So does the RunKeeper work in the background while you have the Zombies, Run going? And does it work on treadmills?

The best way to know is to test it a little. I did that with Nike+. Started Nike+, started zombies, ran for 5 minutes and then checked it. It worked. :)

Zombies doesn't like to be in the background I have found.
